    Jakarta: The Foreign Affairs Ministry today confirmed that an Indonesian migrant worker in Taiwan recently tested prositive for COVID-19.

    "It has been confirmed. A migrant worker," Foreign Affairs Ministry acting spokesperson Teuku Faizasyah told Medcom.id here on Thursday, February 27, 2020.

    Previously, an Indonesian housemaid in Singapore tested positive for the new coronavirus. Meanwhile, eight Indonesian crew members aboard the quarantined Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan tested positive for the disease.

    According to local media, the Indonesian migrant worker was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. Working as an undocumented caregiver in Taiwan, the Indonesian national contracted the virus while caring for a COVID-19 patient.

    The unnamed Indonesian is currently treated in a hospital in Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan. In Taiwan, the names of hospitals treating virus-infected patients are not disclosed to avoid panic.
