Jakarta: The United States (US) Government has agreed to maintain cooperation in the field of disaster management with the Indonesian government.

The message was conveyed during a meeting between the US Ambassador to Indonesia Sung Kim and the Head of National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo at the BNPB office in Jakarta on Tuesday.

"I agree to maintain cooperation in the field of disaster mitigation," said the US Ambassador in a press release issued on Wednesday.

Last week, the US Ambassador handed over 83  state-of-the-art ventilators for use in Central Java Province.

These 83 ventilators are a portion of the 1,000 ventilators that the US has donated to Indonesia through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to assist its fight against covid-19.

Beyond this donation, US emergency assistance to support Indonesia’s fight against covid-19 totals approximately $11 million.
