Jakarta: The government plans to repatriate Indonesian crew members aboard the quarantined Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan. The government is currently studying two strategies.

"First, we can use DR. Soeharso ship. It is a hospital ship," Coordinating Minister for Culture and Human Development Muhadjir Effendy said here on Thursday, February 20, 2020.

The coordinating minister added that the government could also use a plane to repatriate the Indonesian nationals. The former education minister stated that the best strategy would be determined in the near future.

"We will await the president's decision. We cannot reveal the detailed information now," he explained.

As many as 78 Indonesian nationals work as crew members aboard Diamond Princess. Four of them tested postive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) this week.

The four Indonesian nationals are currently treated in hospitals in Chiba and Tokyo. Diamond Princess has been quarantined in the Port of Yokohama since early February 2020.
