To promote multilateralism, the UN was urged to delivere concrete outcomes and avoid rethorical acts. In addition, it was also encouraged to maintain its future relevance.
According to Minister Retno, the UN could help realize affordable vaccines and medicines for all. In the long term, the UN should try to improve global economic resilience and strengthen globel health system.
"The UN must stay relevant and should be able to anticipate future challenges," the minister stated.
On Wednesday morning, Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will join other world leaders and speak before the General Debate of the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly.
Held virtually due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic, the event's theme for 2020 is The Future We Want, the UN We Need: Reaffirming our Collective Commitment to Multilateralism-Confronting Covid-19 through effective Multilateral Action.
