The Indonesian top diplomat held a bilateral meeting with her Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif at Pancasila Building in Central Jakarta this morning. She discussed a number of bilateral, regional and global issues during the meeting.
Minister Retno urged Middle East countries to maintain security and peace in the region. She believes that any conflicts can be resolved through dialog.
"Indonesia wants to reiterate its stance that Indonesia wishes to see a peaceful, stable and prosper Middle East," she told reporters after the meeting.
"Differences and conflicts in the Middle East should be settled through dialogue," she added.
Zarif said that his country is ready to initiate a dialog with Gulf countries. He added that the Iranian government has proposed a non-agression pact to the Gulf Cooperation Council and Iraq.
