Today, President Joko Widodo will attend five summits, including the 37th ASEAN Plenary Summit, the 23rd ASEAN-China Summit, the 21st ASEAN-Korea Summit, the 23rd ASEAN-Japan Summit, and 17th ASEAN-India Summit.
The summits will discuss joint masures to prevent the wider impact of the covid-19 pandemic in the region by emphasizing priority cooperation, particularly regarding procurement and production of covid-19 vaccine.
The summits will also discuss economic development in the region as well as economic and social impacts of the covid-19 pandemic.
"This summit is important to unite efforts and encourage future commitment from ASEAN partner countries to tackle the pandemic in a more structured manner", said the Indonesian Foreign Minister in a press release on Monday.
The 37th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits will be held on November 12-15 via video conference due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic.
On the last day, President Jokowi will also attend the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Summit and the signing ceremony of the trade agreement.
