    Jakarta: President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will make a visit to Australia on February 9-10, 2020. It is part of a regular meeting between the leaders of the two countries.

    According to acting Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Teuku Faizasyah, one of the topics is the ratification of the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA).

    "We also understand that we have begun to complete the IA-CEPA ratification process," he said at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta on Thursday, February 6, 2020.

    "There will be an a plan of action for implementing the comprehensive strategic partnership," he added.

    In Australia, the ratification of IA-CEPA has been completed. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the process has entered the final stage.

    This afternoon, the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) is scheduled to ratify the IA-CEPA Law. The IA-CEPA was signed in March 2019 by Indonesian Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita and the Australian Minister of Tourism and Investment Trade Simon Birmingham.

    Under the agreement, Indonesia will gradually cut 94 percent import duties on Australian products. In return, 100 percent import duty on products from Indonesia entering Australia will be removed.
