Indonesian-Australian FMs to Meet Before Bali Process
Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi (Photo: AFP), Jakarta: Prior to Bali Process forum on March 22-23 in Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi is to meet with her Australian counterpart, Julie Bishop.
"There will be a bilateral meeting between Indonesia and Australia at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry on March 21, prior to Bali Process," mentioned the Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Arrmanatha Nasir at the ministry, Jalan Pejambon, Jakarta, Thursday (3/17/2016).
The goal of this bilateral meeting is to conduct final preparations. FM Retno and FM Bishop are the co-chairs in Bali Process 2016.
"Aside from that, bilateral issues between both countries will be discussed, especially on the strengthening of investments, students exchange and maritime issues," he continued.
Terrorism issue will also be the focus on the bilateral meeting. Previously, both FMs have met in a 2+2 meeting in Sydney, Australia.
Related to Bali Process, FM Retno will also conduct bilateral meetings with several countries.
"So far, the confirmed bilateral meetings are with the Netherlands, New Zealand and Fiji. In total, there are around 7 bilateral meetings," elaborated Arrmanatha.
He also added that due to the short amount of available time, the meeting is hoped to run smoothly and efficient.
