medcom.id, Jakarta: Five Indonesian organizations received awards from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) during celebration of World Refugee Day in Jakarta.
"The five organizations have continuously helped the refugees in Indonesia," said UNHCR representative in Indonesia, Thomas Vargas, at Gouthe Institut, Jakarta, on Monday (6/20/2016).
The five organizations are Dompet Dhuafa, PMI, Roshan Learning Centre, Suaka Organization and Komnas HAM.
World Refugee Day is observed on June 20 each year. The theme for this year is We Stand Together #WithRefugees.
The number of refugees and asylum seekers is growing rapidly. Vargas mentioned that there are at least 3.8 million refugees in Asia-Pacific region.
