    Confirmed Covid-19 Cases in Indonesia Rises to 172

    Jakarta: Government spokesperson for matters related to covid-19 Achmad Yurianto has reported that the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia has risen to 172.

    "New 20 confirmed cases were reported by the Health Research and Development Agency (Balitbangkes). Six confirmed cases were reported by Airlangga University (Unair)," the spokesman said here on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

    The total number of cases is 172. The death toll is still five," the Ministry of Health official added.

    Yurianto urged the public to stay calm. He underlined the importance of maintaining personal hygiene to avoid covid-19 infection.

    "As many as nine patients have fully recovered," he stated.

    Previously, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) revealed its decision to extend the emergency status over the covid-19 outbreak in Indonesia until May 29, 2020. In a bid to maintain the purchasing power in rural areas, the government recently announced plan to allocate Rp40 trillion for several programs to increase public purchasing power and consumption.
