Jakarta: The General Elections Commission (KPU) chairman Arief Budiman is currently undergoing self-isolation at his home after he tested positive for covid-19.

"I am asymptomatic," said the KPU chairman in a written statement on Friday afternoon.

"I still continue to work. I work from home. It can be done online," the KPU official explained.

According to Arief, all employees at the KPU headquarters in Jakarta have taken covid-19 tests. In addition, KPU also decided to close its head office until September 22. However, KPU employees still need to work from home.

On Friday afternoon, the National Covid-19 Task Force confirmed 3,891 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases across Indonesia to 236,519.

To tackle the impact of covid-19, the Indonesian government has set several targets, including lower daily new covid-19 cases, increase in recovery rate, and decline in mortality rate.
