According to presidential spokesperson Fadjroel Rachman, the two Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) branches were asked to help launch the government's development agenda.
"(The President conveyed) to maintain the development agenda," the former activist said.
The government’s agenda for the next five years are national human resources development, infrastructure development, simplifying bureaucracy, streamlining regulations, and economic transformation. This needs to be the concern of all parties.
Fadjroel added that Jokowi's special meeting with the TNI leadership was not the first time. On Thursday, November 14, 2019, Jokowi had gathered the leaders of the Army and National Police.
"What was conveyed by the President towards the Army, Navy and Air Force was about upholding the national consensus. Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, ‘Bhinneka Tunggal Ika’, the Unitary Republic of Indonesia, to defend the red and white flag," he said.
On the other hand, according to Fadjroel, TNI Commander in Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto also expressed his gratitude for President Jokowi's support for the development of the TNI.
