According to the former education minister, if people do not strictly implement health protocols during the upcoming long weekend, the covid-19 situation in Indonesia's capital may worsen again.
"In August, the number of covid-19 cases significantly rose two weeks after a long holiday," said the governor here on Monday.
"Use masks to protect others. That is key to tackle the spread of the virus," he added.
On Monday, the National Covid-19 Handling Task Force confirmed 3,222 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 392.934.
From Sunday noon to Monday noon, the total number of recovered covid-19 patients across Indonesia was up by 3,908 to 317,672, while the country's official covid-19 death toll rose by 94 to 13,299.
Thus, the number of active covid-19 cases in the country currently is 61,851.
