Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called for unity after several terror attacks hit the country in the past few days.

"I urge all people in this country to stay calm and remain vigilant. We need to unite to combat terrorism," said the President in South Tangerang on Thursday.

"Terrorism has no place in Indonesia. I want to underscore that," the former Jakarta mayor stated.

On Wednesday, a terror suspect was shot dead by police after she tried to breach an entry gate at the National Police headquarters in South Jakarta.

Last week, a suicide bomb attack at the Cathedral Church, Makassar, South Sulawesi Province wounded at least 20 congregants and nearby residents.

In the past few months, the Special Detachment 88 Anti-Terror (Densus 88), the National Police's counterterrorism special unit, have arrested dozens of suspected terrorists across the country.
