Indonesia Secures 90 Million Doses of Covid-19 Vaccine Until June 2021

Jakarta: Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin confirmed that Indonesia has recieved covid-19 vaccine. Vaccinations are needed to build a swarm of immunity to tackle a pandemic.

"As of June, we have only about 90 million vaccines," said Budi in a teleconference in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 3, 2021.



According to him, around 45 million of the total target of 181.5 million Indonesians could be vaccinated by June 2021. One person must be injected with the covid-19 vaccine twice.

He explained that the limited number of vaccines in the first semester of 2021 meant that the vaccination program could not be accelerated. The reason is, all countries in the world are scrambling to get the covid-19 vaccine.

"Many countries have not received vaccines, even Australia and Japan have just started vaccinating," said Budi.

Budi said the government is ready to receive additional vaccines in July 2021. The next homework is to ensure that vaccinations for the remaining 136 million residents can be optimal.

"To be able to achieve vaccines for two or three million people per day, practice from now on," explained the former Deputy Minister of BUMN.
