"More or less there are similarities among several parties related to the increase in parliamentary threshold," Saan told Medcom.id, Wednesday, February 5, 2020.
The Party of Functional Groups (Golkar) is one of the parties that want to raise the parliamentary threshold. The Golkar party is proposing an increase of 7 percent.
"The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) also has the same view," he said.
The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) is also said to want to raise the parliamentary threshold. PKS Central Executive Board (DPP) Chair Mardani Ali Sera wants the parliamentary threshold to be set in the range of 5-7 percent.
According to Saan, it is not unusual that the parties have slightly different proposals. Nevertheless, there is a desire to raise the parliamentary threshold in the coming general elections.
"The discussion is ongoing. We will find a compromise. We will negotiate everything," he said.
