“The procedure does not regulate the name of the new vice-governor,” Syarif said here on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.
According to him, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) only needs to choose one of the four candidates proposed by
Gerindra Party, while the other one was from PKS itself prior.
Thereafter, the two candidates will be considered in the Joint Meeting (Rapimgab). The meeting must be at least attended by 50+1 members to fulfill the quorum.
“After the joint meeting, they will be considered at the plenary meeting. After that, It will be discussed by the selection committee (Panlih)," said Syarif.
If everything goes according to the plan, this will be officially concluded in one week," he added.
The post of the vice governor of Jakarta has been vacant since August last year when the then vice governor, Sandiaga Uno, announced his bid for vice president. The post became the possession of Gerindra and PKS since they proposed him in the 2017 regional elections.
PKS earlier proposed two of its members, Ahmad Syaikhu and Agung Yulianto. Gerindra later proposed four candidates: Jakarta Regional Secretary Saefullah, Gerindra Advisory Board Member Arnes Lukman, Gerindra Vice Chairman Ferry J Juliantono and Gerindra Vice Secretary General Ahmad Riza Patria.
