Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has encouraged Muhammadiyah, the second largest Islamic organization in Indonesia, to support the upcoming covid-19 vaccination program.

On Wednesday, President Jokowi virtually participated in the ceremony to celebrate the 108th anniversary of Muhammadiyah.

"I hope Muhammadiyah can help spread correct information about covid-19 vaccine so people will not believe hoaxes and fake news," said President Jokowi here on Wednesday.

According to the President, the Indonesian government is currently studying the safety, efficacy and halal-ness of the covid-19 vaccines that will be used during the program.

Earlier today, President Jokowi inspected a simulation of covid-19 vaccination held at a health center in Tanah Sareal, Bogor, West Java.

The health center will be one of the locations for the implementation of the Covid-19 vaccination if the program is ready.
