    Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo today inaugurated Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party politician Ahmad Riza Patria as the new Jakarta deputy governor.

    The inauguration ceremony was held at State Palace in Central Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon. Based on Presidential Decree Number 40/P Year 2020 regarding the Inauguration of Jakarta Deputy Governor for the Remaining Period of 2017-2022. 

    The inauguration ceremony was only attended by a small number of guests. Some of the guests were Gerindra Chairman Prabowo subianto, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, Jakarta Regional Legislative Council Speaker Prasetio Edi Marsudi and Jakarta Regional Secretary Saefullah.

    "After the inauguration ceremony, I will visit my parents, my in-laws and my child's tomb," the Gerindra Party politician told before the inauguration ceremony.
    Previous Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno stepped down from his position after he was appointed as Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto's running mate in the 2019 presidential race. He and current Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan won the Jakarta gubernatorial election in 2017.

    The seat was then competed between Gerindra Party and PKS. The Gerindra Party official beat Properous Justice Party (PKS) politician Nurmansjah Lubis in a voting earlier this month.
