"After a discussion with my doctors, I will undergo self-isolaton and follow the procedure," said Anies in a written statement on Tuesday.
The former education minister took a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on Monday after Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria tested positive for coronavirus a day earlier.
"People who recently met me should immediately contact a health center and take a swab test," Anies stated.
On Monday, Indonesia's Covid-19 Handling Task Force reported 4,617 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country to 538,883.
From Sunday noon to Monday noon, the total number of recovered coronavirus patients across Indonesia was up by 4.725 to 450.518.
In the same period, the country's official covid-19 death toll rose by 130 to 16,945.
