Jakarta: Deputy Minister of Defense Wahyu Sakti Trenggono said Indonesia's main weapon systems (defense equipment) has been ordered by other countries. PT Pindad (Persero) 's products have reached global attention.
"The Philippines is ordering tanks," said Trenggono at the Ministry of Defense Office, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, January 22, 2020.
However, Trenggono does not remember the number of tanks ordered by neighboring countries. Ghana has also bought PT Pindad products, but he did not specify exactly what was ordered.
Trenggono called the sale of defense equipment a good start in 2020 for the Ministry of Defense. He said several countries in Africa would also buy defense equipment from Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto briefly went to the Philippines at the end of 2019. He discussed the Philippine plan to order armored vehicles made by PT Pindad.
In addition, PT Pindad (Persero) and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Ghana have signed a letter of intent in November 2019. Light weapons such as pistols, assault rifles, submachine guns and machine guns will be supplied to Ghana.
