"There are still at least 568 vacant beds," the National Covid-19 Task Force stated in a press release on Friday.
Besides Tower 5, Tower 4 will also be used to house asymptomatic covid-19 patients. However, the tower is currently still under renovation.
"The capacity of Tower 4 is 1,546 beds," the task force stated.
Earlier this week, several ministers were assigned to monitor the development of covid-19 in the provinces of Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra, South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Papua, and Bali.
To tackle the impact of covid-19, the Indonesian government has set several targets, including lower daily new covid-19 cases, increase in recovery rate, and decline in mortality rate.
On Friday, the National Covid-19 Task Force confirmed 3,891 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases across Indonesia to 236,519.
