    Jokowi Holds Cabinet Meeting, Discusses His Recent Trip to Saudi Arabia

    Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has led a limited a cabinet meeting to discuss about his recent visit to Saudi Arabia.

    "This limited cabinet meeting will discuss about my recent visit to Saudi Arabia," President Jokowi said here on Thursday.
    Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Humand Development and Cultural Affairs Puan Maharani, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi and Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) head Thomas Lembong were reportedly present at the limited cabinet meeting.

    "Saudi Arabia has proposed stronger petrochemical cooperation," President Jokowi noted.

    Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto, State Secretary Minister Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan, Energy and Mineral Resources deputy minister Achandra Tahar and Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko also attended the limited cabinet meeting.

    "Saudi Arabia has granted additional 10 thousand hajj quota President Jokowi remarked.

    On Sunday, President Jokowi held a series of meetings with King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and other Saudi Arabian high-ranking officials in Riyadh. During the meetings, he discussed about bilateral relations between the two countries.

    “President Jokowi and King Salman have agreed to strengthen economic cooperation in the future, especially in the fields of energy and tourism,” Cabinet Secretary's website quoted Minister Retno as saying.

    On the next day, President Jokowi performed Umrah ritual in Mecca. He was given the opportunity to enter the Ka'bah.

    “King Salman also praised Indonesia’s leadership in maintaining stability in the region and the world,” Minister Retno noted.

    Regarding the additional 10 thousand Hajj quota, the Religious Affairs Ministry is planning a discussion with the House of Representative (DPR) and the Hajj Fund Management Agency (BPKH).

    According to the ministry, the discussion needs to be done immediately because the additional quota brings implications for a number of complex matters such as extra costs for organizing hajj and the provision of hajj services both at home and abroad.
