Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to receive covid-19 vaccination on January 13, according to the Presidential Secretariat.

"(He) is scheduled to get the first shot on January 13," Presidential Secretariat Head Heru Budi Hartono said here on Tuesday.

Last month, the President expressed his willingness to be the first person to receive covid-19 vaccination in Indonesia.

This move aims to provide trust and confidence to the public that the program is safe and necessary.

According to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, the Indonesian government plans to begin the covid-19 vaccination program next week.

Nevertheless, the central government is still waiting for the emergency use authorization (EUA) from the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) and halal certificate from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).
