Jakarta: Thousands of joint personnel from the Indonesian Armed Forces and National Police (TNI-Polri) are on alert to guard workers' demonstrations in front of the Senayan Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta today. Labor protests are expected to be orderly.
"We plunged 6,013 personnel to safeguard workers' demonstrations at the House of Representatives (DPR) today," said Head of Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Commissioner Yusri Yunus in Jakarta on Monday, January 20, 2020.
Yusri said the diversion of traffic currents around the Parliamentary Complex was prepared, but it was still situational. The police will see the demonstration situation before manipulating traffic.
The Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) and a number of labor elements are planning to hold a demonstration in front of the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta. They will voice a number of labor issues to people's representatives.
The demonstrators plan to gather at the Timur Senayan Parking Lot, Central Jakarta. They then will walk together towards the front of the DPR building.
KSPI along with a number of other trade union elements will voice rejection of the simplification of the law (omnibus law) related to Employment Creation and raising the contribution of the Health Insurance Provider Board (BPJS).
