    Jokowi Asks Covid-19 Task Force to Give Special Attention to Jakarta, Central Java

    Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said today the covid-19 situation in Jakarta and Central Java provinces worsened in the past week.

    "Two provinces need to be given special attention. They recorded a spike in the past week. The increase was very drastic in the past two or three days," said Jokowi here on Monday.

    On Sunday, Central Java reported 2,036 new coronavirus cases, while Jakarta announced 1,432 new cases.

    "We need to carefully study the spike," Jokowi stated.

    Yesterday, Indonesia's Covid-19 Handling Task Force confirmed 6,267 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Indonesia to 534,266.
     
    From Saturday noon to Sunday noon, the total number of recovered coronavirus patients across Indonesia was up by 3,810 to 445,793, while the country's covid-19 death toll rose by 169 to 16,815.
