    Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry Official Succumbs to Covid-19

    Jakarta: Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry's Marine Spatial Planning Director General Aryo Hanggono passed away at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital in Central Jakarta on Monday morning after suffering from covid-19 for around two weeks.

    "He passed away at around 04.50 Western Indonesia Time (WIB)," Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry's Public Relations and International Cooperation Bureau Head Agung Tri Prasetyo told mediaindonesia.com this morning.

    "The deceased tested positive for coronavirus on September 9," the Ministry official added.

    Meanwhile, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Edhy Prabowo reportedly also contracted covid-19. The information was revealed by Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party spokesperson Sufmi Daco Agmad. The minister is currently being treated at the Gator Subroto Army Hospital.

    "Edhhy Prabowo currently is in stable condition," said Daco in a written statement on September 16.

    On Sunday, the National Covid-19 Handling Task Force confirmed 3,874 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 275,213.
