"It is the first batch," said the Papua Province Health Agency's Disaster Control and Prevention Division Head Aaron Rumainum here on Monday.
According to the local official, in the first phase of the covid-19 vaccination program, they plan to vaccinate around 7,000 health workers in Jayapura and other regions in Papua province.
"We are waiting for the instruction from the central government. We will start vaccinations after we receive the instruction," he explained.
Indonesia's Covid-19 Handling Task Force reported 6,753 new coronavirus cases today, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 772,103.
From Sunday noon until Monday noon, the total number of recovered coronavirus patients was up by 7,166 to 639,103.
Meanwhile, Indonesia's official covid-19 death toll rose by 177 to 22,911.
