Jakarta: Senior Golkar Party politician Akbar Tandjung said the Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin government must continue to focus on developing the country. The two heads of state in the 2019-2024 period must give a legacy to the public.
"We hope that in the next five years he will leave the legacy that we'll always remember," Akbar Tandjung said at the National Workshop at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 15, 2019.
According to him, President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) government in the second period must build a legacy that the Indonesian people will continue to progress. The country must continue to develop with qualified human and technological resources.
"Our brothers and sisters in Papua feel the impact of infrastructure development very well. God willing, the next five years we will be more prosperous," said the Speaker of the 1999-2004 House of Representatives (DPR).
He also reminded Jokowi's re-election as president to be the result of a democratic system. Although theoretically not the best, he stressed that until now there has not been a better system than democracy.
"We are grateful that Indonesia is the largest democracy in the world. India, US (United States), Indonesia. Indonesia is even seen as the largest Muslim democracy in the world," said the 6th State Secretary.
