Indonesia Announces 2,897 New Covid-19 Cases

Jakarta: The National Covid-19 Handling Task Force on Friday confirmed 2,897 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 406,945.

Based on data gathered by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, from Thursday noon to Friday noon, the total number of recovered covid-19 patients across Indonesia was up by 4,517 to 334,295.
Meanwhile, in the same period, the country's official covid-19 death toll was up by 81 to 13,782.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called on his Cabinet to ensure the safety and effectiveness of covid-19 vaccine procurement and vaccination.

According to the President, all stages of the trials must be based on scientific processes and data, as well as proper health standards, while stressing that safety and effectiveness aspects of the vaccine become the public main concern, including experts and researchers.

In addition to safety and effectiveness, public access to vaccine distribution must also be ensured and well planned. 

Moreover, the implementation of the vaccination must also be clearly explained to the public.
