    Jokowi Leads Ceremony to Commemorate National Heroes Day

    Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) led a ceremony to commemorate National Heroes Day at the Kalibata National Heroes Memorial Park in South Jakarta on Tuesday morning.

    To tackle the spread of coronavirus, all participants implemented health protocols such as wearing face masks and maintaining safe distance.

    The ceremony was attended by a number of government officials, including Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Minister of Religious Affairs Fachrul Razi and Minister of Social Affairs Juliari Batubara.

    As part of the celebration of National Heroes Day, President Jokowi will bestow the titles of national hero on six Indonesian figures.

    The six figures are Sultan Baabullah from North Maluku, Machmud Singgirei Rumagesan from West Papua, General Raden Said Soekanto Tjokrodiatmodjo from Jakarta, Arnoldus Mononutu from North Sulawesi, SM Amin Nasution from North Sumatra, and Raden Mattaher bin Pangeran Kusen from Jambi.

    National Heroes Day falls every year on November 10.
