Jokowi Nominates Listyo Sigit Prabowo as New National Police Chief

Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has nominated National Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head Commissioner General Listyo Sigit Prabowo as the new National Police chief.

The National Police Chief General Idham Azis will enter retirement age this month.
"President Joko Widodo has submitted the name of the National Police chief candidate to the House of Representatives (DPR). The candidate is Commissioner General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The Presidents asks for approval from DPR," said DPR Speaker Puan Maharani here on Wednesday.

On Wednesday morning, the presidential letter was handed over by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno to the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) lawmaker.

During the ceremony, Puan was accompanied by several DPR deputy speakers such as Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Rachmat Gobel and Aziz Syamsudin.

"The process will take 20 days since the submission of the presidential letter," Puan stated.
