Jakarta : The Covid-19 Handling Task Force has instructed local governments (pemda) to anticipate covid-19 spike after Eid holiday.

“Let's not wait until it's too late and until the situation is critical and out of control," said Covid-19 Handling Task Force spokesperson, Wiku Adisasmito in a written statement on Thursday.

"I urge regents and mayors to immediately mend the covid-19 control in each region," the spokesperson stated.

According to the official, Jakarta and Central Java are still the epicenter of the pandemic after Eid homecoming exodus this year.

“We can not only monitor the situation at the provincial level. We need to see cases in regencies and cities," said Wiku.

Previously, Wiku explained that the covid-19 situation in several regencies/cities are worrisome.

The active cases in said regions increased by 70 to 100 percent.

“The highest is Kudus,” said Wiku. (Translator: Natasha Celia)
