Jakarta: The Indonesian Government has decided to extend the activity restrictions (PPKM) and micro-based activity restrictions (PPKM Mikro) policies for two weeks, starting from May 4 to May 17, according to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

The policies have been implemented since last January

In the upcoming period, the area of ??implementation is expanded with the addition of five provinces, namely Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and West Papua.

"So the total is 30 provinces," said the minister who is also the Chairperson of the Committee for Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN) in a press conference here on Monday.

On Sunday, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) urged the public to remain vigilant of covid-19 transmission risks despite a drop in active cases and progress in the Government’s vaccination program.

The curve of covid-19 cases in Indonesia has flattened lately since micro-scale public activity restrictions and mass vaccination programs were in place.

The number of active cases in the country has also decreased to approximately 100,000.

There is also an upward trend of covid-19 patient recovery and a downward trend of daily cases.
