Indonesia Reports 6,808 New Coronavirus Cases

Jakarta: Indonesia's Covid-19 Handling Task Force on Wednesday reported 6,808 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Indonesia to 1,353,834.
 
From Tuesday noon to Wednesday noon, the total number of recovered coronavirus patients in the country increased by 9,053 to 1,169,916.
 
Within the same period, Indonesia's official covid-19 death toll was up by 203 to 36,721.

The covid-19 virus has taken a huge human toll. More than two million people worldwide have succumbed to the virus. Many more have been hospitalized, and suffered ongoing debilitating consequences.



In addition, billions of lives have been disrupted by the travel restrictions, lockdowns and other measures put in place to slow the spread of the virus. 

Millions of jobs have been lost as the global economy has slowed down, and health services have been overwhelmed, making it harder for patients with non-covid-related ailments to receive treatment.
