Jakarta: The Central Java provincial administration has officially started the second wave of covid-19 vaccinations in the province.

According to Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, the local government received 1 million doses of covid-19 vaccine from the Central Government earlier this month.

"We simultaneously started the second wave of covid-19 vaccinations today. We hope we can vaccinate 1 thousand people per day. The verification process is easier in this phase," Ganjar said here on Monday.

"We hope this program can run smoothly," the Central Java Governor stated.

At national level, the Indonesian government will vaccinate more than 16.9 million public workers and 21 million senior citizens in the second phase of the national covid-19 vaccination program.

The government will also vaccinate 92 thousand tourism workers, 5 thousand media workers, 1,203 athletes, 69 thousand religious leaders and 33 thousand legislators.
