    Jakarta: Jakarta Deputy Governor Riza Patria has announced that the province will begin covid-19 vaccinations on January 15.

    "Wealth workers and community leaders will be the first groups to receive the covid-19 vaccine," said the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party here on Tuesday.

    Meanwhile, the central government will launch the covid-19 vaccination program on Wednesday. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will be the first person to receive covid-19 vaccination in the country. The president wants to ensure halal status and safety of the vaccine.

    Indonesia's Covid-19 Handling Task Force reported 10,047 new coronavirus cases today, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Indonesia to 846,765.
     
    From Monday noon until Tuesday noon, the total number of recovered coronavirus patients in the country increased by 7,068 to 695,807.
     
    Within the same period, Indonesia's official covid-19 death toll was up by 302 to 24,645.
