Ministry of Health Optimistic Covid-19 can be Controlled on August 17

Jakarta: The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) believes that the COVID-19 case can be under control on August 17, 2021. Various handling efforts are being intensified, including combating the covid-19 mutation from England, B117.

"We are optimistic that (covid-19 can be controlled)," said the spokesperson for the covid-19 vaccination from the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, to Medcom.id, Wednesday, March 3, 2021.



Nadia stated that the emergence of B117 was a new challenge to achieve this target. However, the covid-19 vaccine has been claimed to be effective against B117.

"(B117), of course, it is hoped that it will not have an effect because the vaccine is still effective," he explained.

The government is also intensifying the vaccination program to all regions. Then, detailing the target recipients from stage I to stage IV.

"But don't forget that 3M (wearing a mask, keeping your distance, and washing your hands with soap) and 3T (tracing, testing, and treatment) are still carried out," said Nadia.

Meanwhile, spokesperson for the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Wiku Adisasmito explained the purpose of the target of controlled COVID-19 cases on August 17, 2021. Controlled does not mean zero cases.

"(The ones under control) are decentralized to the lowest level of governance, namely villages and sub-districts," said Wiku.
