Jakarta: The number of active cases in Indonesia was down in the past week, Covid-19 Handling Task Force Head Doni Monardo said on Monday.

"The number was down from 176 thousand to 161 thousand in the past week," the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) chairman told a coordination meeting.

According to the official, the decrease was also influenced by the implementation of community activity restrictions (PPKM) in the islands of Java and Bali.

"We hope that we can continue to minimize the number of cases," Doni stated.

Indonesia's Covid-19 Handling Task Force reported 6,765 new coronavirus cases yesterday, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Indonesia to 1,217,468.

From Saturday noon to Monday noon, the total number of recovered coronavirus patients in the country increased by 9,237 to 1,025,273.

Within the same period, Indonesia's official covid-19 death toll was up by 247 to 33,183.
