The assistance was donated by BI Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti through the Covid-19 Rapid Response Task Force and received by the task force head Doni Monardo on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 in Jakarta.
BI donated 5,000 units of personal protective equipment (PPE), 10,000 rapid diagnostic tests and 100,000 face masks.
"“Bank Indonesia sincerely appreciates the efforts of the rapid response task force and all medical staff to break the COVID-19 chain of transmission and protect the public from the dangers and threats of COVID-19”, stated the BI Senior Deputy Governor in a press release on Wednesday, April 8, 2020.
Doni Monardo also took the opportunity to reiterate the importance of maintaining the body's immune system through adequate nutritional intake.
In addition to assisting medical staff, BI has also donated facemasks, disinfectant solution and spray bottles, hand sanitisers, vitamins and portable outdoor sinks to communities throughout Indonesia.
The assistance was disbursed through 46 BI representative offices located throughout Indonesia to the tune of Rp9.8 billion plus the additional realisation of regional assistance disbursements.
The assistance was provided as part of BI's ‘Dedication to the Country’ initiative as a social care action, particularly during this time to support government efforts to contain the covid-19 pandemic.
