    China Encouraged to Increase Palm Oil Imports from Indonesia

    Bogor: Indonesia hopes that China will increase cooperation in the trade sector. One of them is importing more palm oil (CPO) from Indonesia.

    "Specifically in the field of trade, the President (Joko Widodo) hopes China will import more palm oil and various other commodities such as fruits," Deputy Foreign Minister, AM Fachir said here on Friday, September 20, 2019.

    President Joko Widodo received a delegation of the Chinese Government and the Chinese Communist Party earlier today. The delegation was led by the head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese Communist Song Tao.

    Jokowi hopes that China can invest in export-oriented industries in Indonesia. These export-oriented products can be sold to Africa, the Middle East and even the United States.
     
    "Specifically regarding investment in infrastructure sector. The President hopes the existing cooperation can be continued," the Indonesian officials

    Infrastructure cooperation  between the two countries includes the synergy of The Belt and Road Initiative or the modern Silk Road with Indonesia's maritime axis. The President hopes this cooperation can reduce the impact of Indonesia's trade deficit against China.
