"I expect that LPEI will become one of chains in Indonesia's export ecosystem. How can we increase competitiveness, how can we encourage productivity innovation so that the products produced by our economy are not only beneficial to the Indonesian economy but have the competitive power to be able to export in the world," said the Minister was quoted in a press release issued on Monday, January 6, 2019.
This was conveyed during the oath of Daniel James Rompas' position as Chairman of the Board of Directors and concurrently the Executive Director of LPEI at the Head Office of the LPEI Prosperity Tower District 8 SCBD, Jakarta on Monday, December 30, 2019.
Daniel replaced Sinthya Roesly who was appointed as Finance Director of the State Electricity Company (PLN). On the same occasion, Rijani Tirtoso was also appointed as a member of the LPEI Board of Directors.
The former World Bank managing director believes that there are still many challenges to Indonesian export products that need to be addressed, especially in order to provide added value at the global level so that they do not only export raw
"The expected economic transformation in the Indonesian economy includes diversification and downstreaming of exports. Here the role of LPEI becomes relevant and important," she explained.
The respected economist also expects that LPEI will continue to reach out to other ministries that have the potential for Indonesian export collaboration.
"I hope that synergy, collaboration and the ability to aggregate will produce the ability of LPEI to support Indonesian exports and continue to discover the potential of Indonesian exports and exporters going forward," she concluded.
