BPS chairman Suhariyanto explained that the country's economic growth in the fourth quarter of 2019 was slightly lower than the previous quarter. The BPS leader said that Indonesian economy grew 5.02 percent in the third quarter of 2019.
"Economy grew 4.97 in the fourth quarter of 2019. It was slower than previous quarters," Suhariyanto told a press conference here on Wednesday, February 5, 2020.
According to him, Indonesian economic condition is still relatively stable compared to other countries. Amid weakening global economy, the country's gross domestic product (GDP) can still reach five percent in 2019.
"Reaching five percent was not easy. I think our performance was quite good," Suhariyanto explained.
Indonesian economy grew at least five percent in the past four years. It only grew 4.88 percent in 2015.
