Jakarta: The Centre of Reforms on Economics (CORE) Research Director, Piter Abdullah Redjalam, appreciated the massive infrastructure development under President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo’s first-term.

“Not only in Java island. We can also clearly see infrastructure development on other
islands besides Java,” Piter said here on Thursday, October 17, 2019.

However, Piter argued that the infrastructure development was lack of comprehensive designs and strategies. As a result, it was not optimal.

“We have not seen the optimal impact of the infrastructure development due to lack of comprehensive designs and strategies from the very beginning,” he said.

As a result, he reminded the government to be able to formulate comprehensive designs and strategies so it can massively contribute to high economic growth.

“They should also consider which infrastructure projects they should focus on,” he said. (Translator: Muhammad Gestinev)
