Consumer confidence was observed to grow across all spending levels and educational backgrounds.
"Regionally, consumers in 14 surveyed cities reported increasing confidence, led by respondents in Bandar Lampung, followed by Jakarta and Denpasar," said BI Communication Department Head Erwin Haryono in a press release on Monday.
Consumers were more upbeat in December 2020 due to greater confidence both in current economic conditions and future economic conditions.
The confidence regarding current economic conditions boosted by consumer perception of job availability, incomes and conditions for buying durable goods.
Meanwhile, consumer expectations of economic conditions moving forward were also observed to improve, particularly in terms of job availability.
